About Dr. Afar

Dr. Bijan Afar, D.D.S., M.S. is a Los Angeles periodontist and oral surgeon who graduated from UCLA with a degree in Microbiology, then went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and Master of Science in Oral Biology at the UCLA School of Dentistry.

Dr. Afar was among the top five percent of graduating students in the nation to receive The Dentist-Scientist Fellowship from the National Institute of Health to continue his dental education and research in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the University of Washington, Seattle.

Dr. Afar is an active member of organized dentistry at the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA) and Western Dental Society (WDA). He is also a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and Associate Fellow of American Society of Osseointegration.

Trained in all aspects of implant dentistry, from periodontal disease to placement to restorative stages, Dr. Afar owns his own Los Angeles dentist practice in several locaitons. In addition to lecturing often on implant dentistry and periodontics tissue management, he has taught part-time at UCLA’s School of Dentistry as a clinical faculty and research associate.
